A Quiet Day of craft and music
We are praying for….
Something in the Air - the Holy Spirit! It’s likened to the ‘fragrance of Christ’ (2 Corinthians 2 v.15). We would like to breathe in that fragrance afresh and use our gifts to recognise and welcome Him! A day to inspire - to find the gentle whisper of God’s voice as you engage the unique gifts God has given to each one of us. Rob and Sharon will focus on music and the arts in these sessions. Practical discussions around preparing and praying for occasions where lives can be touched by the presence of the holy spirit in gentle, creative and inspirational workshops.
Sharons workshop will be to make a concertina folded book illustrated with words and pictures in collage form. All materials will be provided and participants are encouraged to embrace their own individual style. Past feedback from Sharon’s workshops has been along the lines of
‘I needed that’
‘I had no idea just how much I would enjoy that’
‘I felt so inspired and encouraged…’
The Music workshop is based on the theme ‘between the notes’. We are looking at how music affects us, and looking at the appeal to the heart - carrying the message - song and spirituality in context. How style can change words and meanings. What part does secular music play in this? Feedback for Rob’s workshops has included
'I didn’t realise that’s what the song was about’
“Takes me out of the here and now into a different world’
“I love your twiddly bits!”
Not forgetting - the part that humour plays - now and forever - in this.
Sharon is a textile artist and has been making textile pictures from recycled fabrics for about 25 years. She has a quirky, folk art style and particularly loves to make pictures inspired by gardens, cottages, the seaside and the beautiful, simple everyday pleasures of life. She sells her original pictures and cards all over the world and has a large online following. She loves to inspire others to make textile pictures and to receive the same joy and peace that this technique has given to her.
Rob is a guitarist who has played in contemporary worship for the past 35 years and has worked professionally as a guitarist, tutor, composer/arranger in many genres and various ministry settings.
The couple been married for 42 years and became Christians in 1990. They both have a passion for using their creative gifts in worship and evangelism to draw people in to build up the church and build a relationship with Christ.
