Pleshey Partners

Once you have visited the Retreat House and soaked in the atmosphere and the hospitality, we are sure you will want to return. You will always be welcome.

And then - why not think about joining the network of people who support the work of the House?

Pleshey Partners

The Friends of the Retreat House, Pleshey had a long and distinguished history here; faithfully praying for, serving and displaying generosity to the House and its ministry since 1932 when Lucy Menzies was Warden. Their new incarnation The Retreat House, Pleshey Partners (or simply Pleshey Partners) incorporates the Friends and Ambassadors.

What privileges will Pleshey Partners have?

We hope that people will become Partners because of their love for the House and its ministry to many. However, there will be some clear privileges too.

  • Termly newsletter by email, to be shared by Partners with their churches and contacts and especially those who do not enjoy email access.

  • Early notification of the annual led quiet day and retreat programme.

  • Automatic qualification for our Loyalty Tariff for private retreats (equivalent to at least 10% discount on standard rates) and a 10% refund on attending any pre-booked retreats or quiet days and 10% discount purchasing merchandise from the shop.

  • A free Partner only dedicated annual quiet day with ‘bring your own’ lunch. (Lunch provision could be included for a small additional cost)

  • A free Partner only dedicated annual Sunday afternoon tea with a Bishop-led service in the chapel or church.

[the privileges mean a loss of profit for the House, not a transfer of value to the Partners]

What will Pleshey Partners do?

Partners will support the development of the House in any way they are able and willing. All are optional. None will be obligatory.

  • In praying – this is the foundation of all we do. The house will provide regular termly updates on house needs and events.

  • In visiting – being at the house whether for a simple private quiet day or as part of a larger retreat will give Partners a real sense of ownership and stewardship for this special place.

  • In giving – We are suggesting a standing order through the Parish Giving Scheme of, say, just £3 a month for individuals or £5 for couples, but permitting Partners to set their own contribution level and frequency. Your church may consider a larger donation. If you are able, you may also give a regular or larger ‘lifetime’ donation or legacy.

  • In volunteering – we always need some practical work done, whether administration, publicity, advocacy, grounds work, welcoming, coordination of volunteers or making produce to sell.

“Pleshey offers such hospitality.

The grounds themselves provide their own tranquility and peace.”
