Where God Can Still Be Found

  • The Diocesan House Of Retreat The Street CM3 1HA United Kingdom (map)

Many people read the Bible as a record of where God was. But can we still find God today?

Led by T.G. Owens. Drawing on stories from more than 20,000 conversations with strangers, contemplative spirituality, silence, music and personal experience, this Quiet Day explores the surprising places where God can still be found.

It can happen while reading a sacred text. It can happen in silence. It can happen while listening to a piece of music. It can happen in a retreat centre. It can happen in a data centre.

And, as many of these stories suggest, it can even happen in the back seat of an Uber while listening to a stranger, a widow, a plane crash survivor, a businessman, or a man who survived being stabbed six times.

T.G. Owens's book God Is Not an Information Desk emerged from that same question. While the title reveals what God is not, the stories themselves point towards where He can still be found.

T.G. Owens is a storyteller, pianist, composer, author and Uber driver based in London. His book God Is Not an Information Desk grew out of more than 20,000 conversations with passengers and explores the sacred hidden within ordinary life.

The day can be combined with an overnight stay or two at the House. If you would like this please contact the Retreat House direct 01245 237251.
