An Advent workshop

Led by Sharon Blackman. Celebrate the joy and peace of Christmas by making a unique folk-art style textile picture.

Sharon will take you, step by step, through the process of making a picture using very basic techniques and stitches and recycled fabrics - think of candles glowing in the darkness and rich, winter colours and textures. This years workshop will focus particularly on images of angels proclaiming the glad tidings of the birth of the Messiah. She will provide all the materials you need and only a very basic knowledge of sewing is needed - in fact, you can use glue if you prefer! Sharon’s husband Rob will, as always, play gentle and relaxing guitar to accompany the workshop - a day to chill-out in a creative environment and prepare for the Christmas season.

Sharon is a textile artist and has been making textile pictures from recycled fabrics for about 25 years. She has a quirky, folk art style and particularly loves to make pictures inspired by gardens, cottages, the seaside and the beautiful, simple everyday pleasures of life. She sells her original pictures and cards all over the world and has a large online following. She loves to inspire others to make textile pictures and to receive the same joy and peace that this technique has given to her.

Rob is a guitarist who has played in contemporary worship for the past 35 years and has worked professionally as a guitarist, tutor, composer/arranger in many genres and various ministry settings.

The day can be combined with an overnight stay or two at the House. If you would like this please contact the Retreat House direct 01245 237251.
